2010 is not the year for Democrats in Arkansas, unless your last name is Beebe.

Lincoln is unpopular, and she will go down in flames. Wal-Mart will need to find another Senatorial mouthpiece.

Last point, Martha Coakley lost not because she was too liberal or too moderate, but because she was a terrible candidate. People are more likely to support someone who has some core beliefs and values and can get people to realize this in them. This is why Gillibrand in NY is doing so bad, she totally changed her core beliefs and values overnight, and she doesn't have a whole lot of charisma. Ted Kennedy was a real people person. Barbara Mikulski is feisty. People can usually tell the real deal. Hayworth in Arizona will lose because he is so phony. Sen. Kerry lost the presidency because he seemed aloof and detached, something Obama is getting accused of lately, although I know he'll fight back.

Jaxx, I agree that Beebe won't go for this year. All he has to do is take a look at Charlie Crist in Florida. I do think that Halter would do better than Lincoln. The people of Arkansas just don't seem enamored of her, whether it is because she is a woman, or if its just her style. Her voting record is only slightly more moderate than Sen Mark Pryor's, her Dem counterpart from Arkansas. Arkansas has sent some very progressive Dems to Washington over the years, including J. William Fulbright and Dale Bumpers, both of whom held the same seat as Lincoln. Last year, Lincoln and GOP Senator Kyl of Arizona sponsored legislation to raise from 7 million to 10 million dollars the minimum amount for the estate tax to kick in. Since this would only benefit very few people in Arkansas, what was her motivation? The Senate race in Massachusetts has had the effect of putting many more races on the map, and since Lincoln was already behind before that, if there are only so many seats the Dems can afford to fight for at the end of the election cycle in November, hers would be one that would be cut first.

Gerard one thing different with Dodd compared to Reid and Clinton is that in CT, there was an obvious candidate who has always wanted to be a senator and was strong enough to make the race no contest: Blumenthal.

In Arkansas, Mike Bebee would destroy any Republican but its very unlikely that he would want to go to Washington at these times. Its much more likely that, assuming Lincoln loses this year, that he runs for the Senate seat in 2016, two years after his gubernetorial term is up and he he has nothing else left to do. No other Democrat is going to take the race away, especially not Halter, whom progressive Democrats favor. I doubt a liberal Democrat like him could do well in Arkansas.

In Nevada, there is no Democratic towering figure and Nevadans just seem adamant in punishing the Democrats if Reid-less polls are to be believed.

I'd love to see some polling of Lt. Gov. Halter vs. Boozman. Halter has been doing a lot better in polling than Lincoln has, although this potential new marquis race of Boozman vs. Halter hasn't been polled. It seems as though it might be getting too late for Halter, I have a feeling that even though he would have been the odds on favorite a few months ago, and would have helped the Dems running for House seats, the House incumbents have now retired leaving a bunch of open seat opportunities for the GOP and Boozman has the wind at his back.

I have a lot of respect for Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, he passed a lot of progressive legislation over the years, yet he knew that things had changed this year and he needed to bow out gracefully. Lincoln and Reid should have as much class. They are dragging down their states. (I'm not saying that Dodd was a saint, and he did mess up with his sweetheart mortgage deal, but on the whole, he has an awful lot to be proud of in his legislative career.)

No need to get agitated Cliff. What happens in the Republican primary is probably irrelevant.
Lincoln is dead meat anyway.
