Retirement watch and recruitment: The week’s updates

Over the next few months, I will continually update my newly-created retirement watch and recruitment pages; and don’t forget that both pages will soon expand when I am done working on my gubernatorial rankings. (That endeavor is taking me longer than I expected given that it involves a painfully long list of 38 races, many of which are quite obscure and demand some extensive research.)

To make sure everyone stays on top of the news, I will also post a list of all the changes (all names that have been added or withdrawn to the lists) each week-end. Here’s the first installment!

First, some names have been added to the retirement page:

Those we are watching closely Neil Abercrombie (D-HI-11): considering a run for Governor
Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY-04): considering Senate run
Jim Gerlach (R-PA-06): considering a run for Governor
Those whose retirement is plausible but not expected Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD-06)
Paul Kanjorski (D-PA-11)
Caroline Maloney (D-NY-14): potential Senate run
Ralph Hall (R-TX-04)

Second, updates to the recruitment page:

FL, Dems (open seat) state CFO Alex Sink ruled out run
businessman Chris Korge ruled out run
state Sen. Dan Gelber announced run
MO, GOP (open seat) Missouri for McCain co-chairman Jack Jackson added to list
NY, Dems (against Gillibrand) Rep. Carolyn McCarthy added to list (considering run)
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer added to list (considering run)
Rep. Caroline Maloney added to list
labor activist Joe Tasini added to list
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo added to list (unlikely)
OH, Dems (open seat) Columbus Mayor Chris Coleman ruled out run
Attorney General Richard Cordray ruled out run
PA, GOP (against Specter) former Rep. Toomey reportedly ruled out run
