Gov and he is NOT a Republican (Gov & Lt. Gov run as a ticket in Kansas). Mr. Parkinson is a former Republican and happens to be the former chairman of the state Republican Party, but switched parties to run with Gov. Sebelius in 2006. He will likely be the Democratic candidate for Governor in 2010. Also, the last Democrat elected to the US Senate was in 1932, not 1936.
