Update 2: Don’t look now, but it seems that problems might be resolved and that we can count on this URL staying stable.
Update: Well, well, well. I obviously spoke too fast. 1and1 seems to be in the midst of a complete collapse, and it’s obviously impossible to communicate with anyone there about why their hosting is completely failing. And it’s apparently going to take a few more hours for everything to get back to normal. So we’re back to a forwarding system, which would be fine except that all the internal links and links to specific pages are broken.
I have spent so much time trying to figure all of this out that I will not be able to update that much right now, but the big news of the day (about which I will have more to say soon) is obviously Gordon Smith’s ad in Oregon embracing Obama, SUSA’s poll of Missouri finding a big lead for McCain, the continued controversy surrounding Black’s comments on terrorism, etc. Thanks for sticking along through this and just be patient a while longer…
Original post: A confusing series of errors, delays and frustrating problems led me to abandon Blogger and my previous host and move to Wordpress after setting up this new template which will evolve in the coming days (for instance, the congressional and gubernatorial rankings haven’t really migrated anywhere for now, the header image doesn’t really have anything to do with campaign diaries except for the fact that I long lived in New York, and I am not sure whether previous RSS feeds carry over). I can only hope that there will be no more broken links over the next few days. It seems that the main URL is still broken on a number of computers.
Until it is all resolved, do let me know what you think of the new look, what you think ought to be added and what features you would like me to experiment with. I will probably be changing the template around until I feel satisfied… if I find much time to do so. Any feedback is welcome, though keep in mind that it might take a few days for this new template to get its final form. (For the sake of comparison, the former version is here.)

It looks good and I like the new format. Maybe add a bit more color?
Yeah, the new look is great. Stay here. :)
Too much white, the gray sidebars (or background was great), I liked the old font, Roman is a little tiring. Maybe the sidebar (the blue part) should have a different color in the background.
The format is nice and clean, but for some reason the post header font is really jaggy and nasty - what is it?
The new format looks much more professional you should keep it this way.
Thumbs up to the new look!
I think its okay but i miss that the Comments are opening up in a popup.
I miss having the link to Swing State Project, Electoral-vote, etc.
Can we add it back?
A big upgrade–like the new site.
I’m sure you’re going to have comment on the
SUSA’s latest from Missouri and Gallup showing a tie nationally.
Jim,
Quite impressive that you noticed the missing links so quickly! They have been added. Thanks for pointing it out.
I think it’s a great improvement. Site looks much better. Crisper, cleaner.
The font and black and white remind me of the NY Times. I like it.
Nice upgrade Taniel. Clean and professional looking. I agree with those that say there’s a bit too much white on the page, and that some subtle color at the margins would be a plus.
Hope you got all the bugs worked out.
Why is there a smiley face in the upper right hand corner?
I like it! Great content too. Thanks for keeping tabs within the political realm. Americans know that “status quo” needs to get kicked out the door!
