Edwards associated with positive energy? Did you see his speech last night? One doesn't need to be among the mega-rich to oppose him...nor does one need to be a racist to oppose Barack Obama. I'll vote for Obama/Edwards about as often as I'll vote for Huckabee/Romney. If you're an example of the "sane center" you talk about, then God save America.

One thing also worth remembering is that the Democratic candidates are very similar in much of their rhetoric and, we must assume, will govern from the same sane center.

When we consider a ticket of Obama/Edwards or Edwards/Obama, the synergy and positive energy these two exude would be a tonic against the who-can-be-more-paranoid-about-Mexicans zeitgeist on the Right. Such a ticket would be, in my estimation, unbeatable, especially as the Right has been firing salvos continually at Hillary, the presumptive candidate for over a year now. They would need a whole new smear approach, and it would be hard to avoid the appearance (the actuality) of racism and top-down class warfare to oppose the values of Obama and Edwards.

I do believe Hillary would make a decent president, if only because she has balls of steel and has been through the smear-wringer before, but not now, and not in today's America. I dream of a nation where the Scaifes, Norquists and Limbaughs can't get any traction and wind up looking like the bigoted, anti-democratic, paranoid, unhinged corporate whores they in fact are. Only Hillary can prevent that, it seems to me. Without a Clinton in the cross hairs, can they keep the hate machine properly stoked?

Let's hope we get to find out.
